Fiber artists are invited to submit entries for an innovative exhibit called “A Celebration of Fiber Arts.” Country
Crossroads Quilters (CCQ) and Central California Arts Association (CCAA) and The Mistlin Gallery have
partnered to produce the event opening October 28 through November 22, 2014 at the Mistlin Gallery. The
show will include art quilts, traditional quilts, weaving, knitting, wearable art, and more. Exhibited work will be
for sale. Show sponsors will accept entry forms through October 1, 2014.
The use of fiber in art has expanded in the past 30 years to include not only fabric but thread work, beading,
painting, hand dyed fibers, and photography that lift the traditional quilt to new heights. A resurgence of knitting
and crocheting has occurred nationwide and television shows such as Project Runway have inspired new
interest in sewing and textiles. The exhibit is designed to showcase the work of local artists and educate the
public on the breadth and creativity of fiber art.
